Welcome to the homepage of Hampstead Congregational Church!
We are glad you are visiting.
On Sunday, May 6th we are invited, following worship in our beautiful meeting house to visit Maranatha UCC in Madbury for their 1:15 service. These Indonesian sisters and brothers offer a wonderful service of music, dance, singing, prayer, and delicious food. Rev. Sandra Pontah will lead worship and I will preach (with a translator.) I hope you will plan on going over. (Some will car pool from the church.)
On May 20th we celebrate Pentecost – the day the Church was born with the gift of the Holy Spirit descending upon it in Jerusalem. You are invited to wear the color red! This will also be the final day of formal Sunday School, though a special time for school age children will continue during worship throughout the summer (with our gifted Susan Kostandin.) Child care for little ones is offered year round. Children and youth will take special leadership in morning worship. If you have a child or teenager that would like to take part (read, play an instrument etc.) please let Linda know.
Our Grief Support Group will also begin on Wednesday the 23rd, meeting from 10:30- 12:00 in our new lounge room. This is an informal gathering with Linda for those who have experienced loss – either long ago or more recently—to confidentially share the journey and offer wisdom and support. Come when you can and bring a friend if you’d like. Those who are free will go for lunch afterwards.
Ours is an open and inclusive congregation made up of people coming from many faith
traditions and practices (or none.) Together we join our hearts in community to love and serve God. Please check out our links to see the various ways we are seeking to make the world a better place, all in the name of Christ, who we believe calls each of us to use and delight in our gifts.
If you are exploring what it means to be alive, if you are asking questions about holy things, or if you are feeling drawn to set down roots with others whose single aim is love and acceptance we hope you will check us out. Our doors and embrace are always open.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Linda Lea Snyder
