The United Church of Christ
Welcome to the Hampstead Congregational Church webpage. We are very glad you have stopped by. As we head into this expectant season of Advent and Christmas we hope you will feel welcome to join us for the many experiences we have planned for these weeks of December. There will be lots of candle-lighting and carol singing as we gather to proclaim the breath-taking act of God breaking into our world in this child, the Christ.
We know that for many the holidays are not a time of complete joy. There have been personal losses, changes in traditions, illnesses. We may also carry concerns for our country and global neighbors. In a time when the whole world is celebrating, we may find we are more wistful thoughtful, even worried. A community BLUE Christmas Service is planned for night, . This shorter service will be filled with quiet music, readings, and prayer. This may seem in tune with where you, or a friend, are this year. Know that you are welcome to come-- to speak or to just be still and take it in. You will be invited to light a candle and to take that candle home. We will gather in the sanctuary .
The holidays also bring opportunities to reach out to our neighbors. Infant clothes are lovingly piled on our bassinet in Hadley Hall for delivery soon to new mothers who may not have all that they need for their babies. If you have diapers etc that can contribute drop off anytime. Our Christmas Fair this year is on will offer lovely hand-made pine and bowed centerpieces, wreaths & swags, lots of beautiful crafts from area vendors, a great home-baked table, and a wonderful auction table full of potential Christmas presents. Monies made strengthen our collective ministry throughout the year.
It is an honor to serve as interim pastor for HCC. Together we are growing and thriving in faith. A first-class music program, the particular love for children and youth, and the day-to-day joy of being the Beloved Community are taking us into an exciting new year.
If we haven't had the chance to meet in person, please don't hesitate to be in touch. I would welcome a visit.
Christmas blessings to each of you,
Rev. Linda Lea Snyder
